A group of 65 former players and skippers will head to Citi Field for “Old Timers’ Day” on Aug. 27, which will feature Hall of Famers and Mets legends in an exhibition game prior to the Amazins’ contest against the Colorado Rockies.
Fans will get to see some of their favorites from yesteryear, such as Mike Piazza, James Franco, Darryl Strawberry and Keith Hernandez participate in the festivities, along with many more.
The event will mark the first Mets Old Timers’ Day since 1994, which comes after new franchise owner Steve Cohen announced a return of the game earlier this year.
“Bringing back Old Timers’ Day was one of the most passionate requests I heard from our fans,” said owner Steve Cohen, according to MLB.com. “As we celebrate our 60th Anniversary season, having these legendary players return to the ballpark to hear cheers from Mets fans once again is the perfect way to honor our past.”
Excited to be attending the @Mets Old Timers’ game this Summer, barring any golf injuries of course. The names look amazing and it’s going to be a fun event, training room is going to be crowded.#Mets #LGM

The most recent Mets player to take the field in the blue and orange participating will be former shortstop José Reyes, who played a stint in Queens between 2003–11, and then again between 2016–18.
Pitcher Ken MacKenzie, meanwhile, will be the former-Met who hasn’t played for the team in the longest period of time, as he finished his 2-year career with the Amazins’ in 1963. He is now 88 years old.
Players aboard both Mets World Series-winning teams will also be in attendance.
Fans can enter the stadium at 3:30 p.m. for the event, which will begin an hour later. Spectators will also be able to check out the entrance of several players walking into the stadium atop a red-carpet at the Seaver VIP Gate.
Tickets are available for purchase at Mets.com/tickets.
