As preseason continues, the Jets have made 5 roster moves that have helped widdle the squad down to fit the 85-man limit on Tuesday.

NFL teams enter training camp with upwards of 90 players on their roster, and have to make subsequent cuts to bring their team down to the eventual 53 players on their opening day rosters.

Tuesday marked the first time teams were forced to reduce the size of their team, and they sent 4 players packing — ending their hope of making it to Gang Green’s Week 1 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 11.

The team also officially placed offensive tackle Mekhi Becton on the injured reserve list, which comes after he suffered an avulsion fracture of the right knee cap earlier in preseason.

New York’s other cuts came equally from the defensive and offensive sides of the ball, as they cut  DB Luq Barcoo, OL Derrick Kelly, DE Tommy Ward and WR Rashard Davis.

That comes after the Jets’ opening preseason game against the Eagles on Aug. 12, which they won 24–21.

Their next preseason contest comes on Monday, when they will face off against the Atlanta Falcons at MetLife Stadium.
