After weeks of radio silence from both sides, the Knicks and Jazz have resumed talks about a potential trade that would send All-Star shooting guard Donovan Mitchell to Madison Square Garden.

Shams Charania of the Athletic reported that the two front offices spoke sometime this week regarding a package of players and picks that the Knicks would need to send to Utah for them to trade Mitchell to New York.

That comes after rumors of a homecoming for the New York-born baller hit a fever pitch earlier this offseason, but talks died out as Leon Rose and Knicks management refused to capitulate to the Jazz’s demands, and other teams joined the fray on Mitchell trade talks.

The 25-year-old shooting guard has played 5 NBA seasons, all with Utah, and has been named to 3 All-Star games in his young career. Last season, he averaged 25.9 points, 5.3 assists and 4.2 rebounds, while remaining a serviceable defender for the Jazz.

The Knicks have serious interest in acquiring the star, who would pair nicely alongside newly-signed point guard Jalen Brunson and forward RJ Barrett.

NBA insiders believe the Knicks have the most to offer Utah as a potential trade suitor, as they possess a number of young players and 9 draft picks over the next 5 years.

They could offer picks, along with some combination of Immanuel Quickley, Obi Toppin and Quinten Grimes to try and pry Mitchell away from the team that drafted him. (They have reportedly refused to include Barrett in any trade).

Other interested teams include the Wizards, Hawks, Heat, Raptors, Hornets and Kings.

Utah, meanwhile, is looking to unload the star and enter a rebuilding process, which comes after they traded All-Star center Rudy Gobert to the Timberwolves in exchange for a package of picks.

It’s not clear how far along any trade talks have been thus far between New York and Utah, but fans hoping to bring Mitchell to the Big Apple will be excited to hear the news that talks have reportedly resumed.
