After reports surfaced at the end of August that the Nets were trying to add free agent forward Markieff Morris, Brooklyn made the signing official on Wednesday.

The Nets did not announce the terms of the deal, but it is expected to be around a league minimum contract which would follow his previous deals in the NBA. Morris has averaged 10.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 24.8 minutes per contest over the course of 11 seasons in the NBA

Morris also shot 44.6% from the field, 34.1% from three-point range and 77.7% from the free-throw line during that time.

In an injury-plagued season with the Miami Heat last season, Morris was limited to just 17 games where he averaged 7.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 17.6 minutes per game. The addition of Morris will give Brooklyn some insurance and a veteran presence off the bench.

Morris is also known to be vocal in the locker room and could help be a calming influence inside the Nets locker room.

The Nets’ interest in Morris had first been reported by NetsDaily in August and it was later confirmed by NBA insider Marc Stein that the two sides were in advanced discussions a few days later. The addition comes with training camp scheduled to open in just a matter of weeks.
