Skip Bayless says he’d take Jaylen Brown over Jayson Tatum in 2022 NBA Finals: ‘He scares me more’

Skip Bayless came away unimpressed with Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics’ performance in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The winner of the inaugural Larry Bird Eastern Conference Final MVP award, Tatum averaged 25 points per game, eight rebounds, and 5.5 assists to lead the Celtics to their first NBA Finals appearance since 2010.

It wasn’t enough to impress the FS1 host though.

“He won it by default, because he did a little bit more statistically than Jaylen Brown, although Jaylen Brown shot 40% from three to JT’s 35%,” Bayless said during Undisputed on Monday. “And Jaylen Brown did have a 40-point game in the seven, and JT didn’t have a 40-point game.”

Brown averaged 24 points, seven rebounds, and just three assists a game.

In the long run, Bayless highlights Brown as the better player than Tatum.

“I’m going on my gut, I’m going on my instincts. I’m going on my eye test,” Bayless said yesterday. “When I’m rooting against the Celtics, as I was for those seven games, Jaylen Brown scares me more than Jayson Tatum. He’s more explosive. He’s more athletic. JT is a little stiff, a little robotic. He’s got that two-piece jump shot.”

Tatum was recently names to the All-NBA First Team and All-Star team this year. He also has an All-NBA Third Team nomination back in 2020.

Brown has just one All-Star appearance last year while playing in 66 games. His highest total since 2018.

When it comes to outrageous sports takes, there aren’t many better than Bayless.

Decades of harsh takes on players, teams, and coaches have made the career of the analyst go from objective reporter to sports critic.

His latest on the difference between the two Celtics is just the latest in a long line of takes looking to get rises out of the general public.

The Celtics, however, move on to the NBA Finals and play the Golden State Warriors starting on Thursday.
