Yankees MLB trade rumors: Is Nolan Arenado an option?

Nolan Arenado isn’t happy with the Colorado Rockies.

Less than one year after signing a massive eight-year, $260 million extension, the star third baseman is unhappy with the way his team has treated him, especially during this offseason.

The Rockies held trade talks involving the 28-year-old throughout the winter, in which general manager Jeff Bridich told the Denver Post that “nothing has come of it,” resulting in a decision to stop such talks earlier this month.

That irked Arenado.

“I really don’t care what’s being said,” he replied. “I just know that I feel disrespected over there.”

The deterioration of their relationship has all signs pointing to a trade shortly. Though the Rockies had “nothing to add” last week when contacted by amNewYork Metro about trade talks re-igniting.

Wednesday saw the emergence of rumors claiming that the Rockies and Chicago Cubs have held talks to swap their disgruntled star third basemen.

Arenado would head to Wrigley while Kris Bryant — who lost his playing-service grievance to push back his free-agency date to 2021 — would go west to Colorado.

Vegas, however, thinks otherwise.

Odds Shark tabs the Yankees as the betting favorites to land Arenado this offseason, followed closely by the Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs, and Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Yankees have the resources and talent to piece a strong return for Arenado.

Miguel Andujar would likely lead those talks while Clint Frazier could also get a new lease on life in the majors with a change of scenery.

The problem is that Arenado’s large contract would be added to a roster that already boasts massive deals. New York’s addition of Gerrit Cole this winter added $324 million to their books to join Giancarlo Stanton’s remaining contract that eclipses the $200 million mark.

Adding Arenado’s deal would make it almost impossible to re-sign Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres to long-term deals unless they somehow find a way to move Stanton.
