As a part of New York Fashion Week, a pair of New York City-based fashion designers are launching a new collection at Urban Outfitters after partnering with a nation-wide pickle company.

Dee & Ricky Jackson, who are known for their streetwear collections, teamed up with Grillo’s Pickles to create a line of pickle-inspired apparel. The six-piece Grillo’s x Dee & Ricky collection will include two graphic teeshirts, a crew sweatshirt, and a beanie as well as a customizable denim apron with rainbow lettering, a branded pin, and a holographic “D & R  X Grillo’s” engraved pickle fork.

The Staten Island-born twins have been designing clothing since 9th grade. After gaining some attention for their designs, Dee & Ricky started their first major collaboration with Marc Jacobs in 2008 during New York Fashion Week. Since then, they have collaborated with a long list of international brands and retailers and are proud to add Grillo’s Pickles to their collaboration lineup.

“Eating pickles bring us back to times like that and we love the nostalgic feeling it gives us. Pickles are awesome and what makes this collaboration even better is that we’re doing it with our favorite pickle brand Grillo’s! We’re super stoked to be placing our Dee and Ricky concepts with Grillo’s branding and making cool, first time ever fashion accessories, flatware, kitchen attire and more!” said Dee & Ricky.

Grillo’s Pickles was founded by Travis Grillo in 2008. What started as a wooden cart selling fresh pickles in downtown Boston has since grown into a nation-wide company offering not just fresh pickles, but also Grillo’s-themed merchandise that is available in stores and online.

“When we first met Dee of the duo Dee and Ricky, we immediately hit it off and exchanged our love for pickles, art and fashion. To have two kids from Boston and two kids from Staten Island start from the streets up and get recognized and accepted into a store like Urban Outfitters is a dream come true.” said Eddie Andre, Senior Brand Manager for Grillo’s Pickles.

To celebrate the launch, Urban Outfitters is hosting a party that is open to the public on Feb. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at their Broadway location, 628 Broadway. The event will be hosted by Dee & Ricky themselves, and the night will include a DJ set by Heron Preston, specialty pickle cocktails and lots of signature Grillo’s pickles.
