A man was fatally struck by a train after falling from the subway platform at Brook Avenue in the Bronx on Tuesday, police said.
The man, who was in his 30s, fell from the platform just before 5:30 p.m. and was hit by a northbound 6 train as it approached the station, according to an NYPD spokeswoman.
The victim may have been intoxicated and no criminality was suspected, the spokeswoman said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Service on the 6 line was snarled for hours during the evening's peak commute. Full service was restored with delays around 7:40 p.m., the MTA said.
Southbound 6 trains also were running with delays because of unrelated signal problems at 14th Street-Union Square, according to the agency.
Straphangers can still expect residual delays on the 4, 5 and 6 lines.
