LIRR restores service on Far Rockaway branch after train hits car; no injuries

The Long Island Rail Road has restored service on the Far Rockaway branch following a collision between a train and a car on Long Island. 

There were no injuries in the collision, an LIRR spokesman said. He said it happened at about 4:30 p.m. Friday at a crossing  near the Gibson Station in Nassau County. Service on the Far Rockaway branch was suspended about 4:57 p.m. 

Service on the branch was restored about 6:30 p.m., a spokesman said.
