Vintage Subway Sun advertisments show bad subway manners have been around since the 1940s

Although manspreaders seem like a problem that came about with millennials, it turns out they are nothing new.

Thanks to the permanent exhibit at the New York Transit Museum, we have a window into “Subway Sun” courtesy campaigns from the 1940s.
