Cops say they are looking for a gunman who opened fire on a busy Manhattan street on Saturday night as revelers enjoyed the weekend.

According to police sources, the gunfire erupted on the corner of East 28th Street and 2nd Avenue in Murray Hill just before midnight on June 1`4 as local New Yorkers enjoyed the nightlife.

Police sources reported that two men got into a verbal dispute. The encounter culminated with an unidentified gunman pulling out a weapon and firing a single shot, sending the would-be victim fleeing between parked cars.

Officers from the 13th Precinct rushed to the scene and sealed off the roadway after finding a shell casing.

No physical injuries were reported, but local residents were left shaken.

“I live right here, is it safe?” one woman asked a cop as he searched the sidewalk with his flashlight

“It sounded like a loud pop,” another local resident told amNewYork.

Surveillance video captured by a local store shows people on the street at the time of the shooting hightailing it into the Basel Deli when the shot was fired. That same video captured a man with a backpack brandishing a handgun before fleeing on foot.

So far, no arrests have been made in the case. Police described the perpetrator as a bald man wearing a blue backpack and dark jacket.
