Hey Nueva York! Get ready to celebrate the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade in NYC this Sunday.
The National Puerto Rican Day Parade, which is in its 68th rendition this year, features music, dance performances, festive floats, and so much more that will liven up the streets of Midtown on Sunday, June 8.
Over 1 million spectators and participants are expected to attend the parade, which will take place along Fifth Avenue, from 44th to 79th Streets. The event will honor the culture of the territory of Puerto Rico, as well as its 3.2 million residents and nearly 6 million people of Puerto Rican heritage in the United States.
What to expect at the National Puerto Rican Day Parade in NYC
The theme of this year’s parade is “Plantando Bandera,” which translates to “planting a flag.” Organizers said the theme captures the Puerto Rican community’s “collective sentiment of pride” in their presence, contributions to society and dedication to maintaining their cultural heritage and tradition.

“We are pleased to recognize the communities of Aguas Buenas and Atlanta, and we anticipate highlighting them in our 2025 festivities,” parade Board Chair Lillian Rodríguez Lopez told WABC-TV, a sponsor of the event. “These communities exemplify our 2025 theme, Plantando Bandera, as each has uniquely and positively impacted and contributed to society while enriching the cultural identity of our people.”
Highlights of the parade traditionally include lots of displays of the Puerto Rican flag, vibrant floats, music performances and other entertainment. Grammy winner Olga Tañón and actor Luis Guzmán will lead the parade procession.
Other honorees this year include boxer Amanda Serrano, actress Gina Rodriguez and Grammy winner Elvis Crespo.
Last year, many elected officials from New York took part in the festivities, including Gov. Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams, as salsa singer Tito Nieves served as the parade’s grand marshal.
