Detectives booked a Bronx man on Thursday for fatally plunging a knife into the chest of his girlfriend inside a Manhattan liquor store the night before, cops announced.

John Foster, 63, of Oak Terrace faces charges of second-degree murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon for the April 8 murder of Gabrielle Gottlieb, 64, a resident of Third Avenue in Kips Bay.

Officers from the 13th Precinct responded to a 911 call about an assault inside Wine Heaven, at 333 Third Ave., down the block from Gottlieb’s home, at 10:18 p.m. on April 8 in Kips Bay.

According to published reports, Gottlieb got into an argument on the street with Foster, who was identified as her boyfriend. Moments later, while inside the store, Foster allegedly plunged a knife into her chest, then bolted from the scene.

Upon arriving at the location, law enforcement sources said, officers found the mortally wounded Gottlieb. Paramedics rushed her to Bellevue Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Officers recovered at the scene a knife believed to have been used in the homicide.

Moments later, published reports indicated, Foster was spotted on the ledge at the top of 363 Third Ave. and threatened to jump. Following a brief standoff, police convinced him to back away and took him into custody without further incident.
