The two likely candidates for Manhattan district attorney made campaign appearances in Lower Manhattan this week. At left, Robert Morgenthau, 85, who is definitely running for reelection this year, met with former State Sen. Catherine Abate at a campaign kickoff party at the Ear Inn Tuesday. Morgenthau’s campaign aides are planning to run against former Judge Leslie Crocker Snyder, 62, who did not actually say she was running when she greeted New York State Court officers supporting her possible candidacy Thursday, right. Snyder, a tough-talking legal analyst for NBC, went to the traditional place where candidates go to announce their campaigns, the steps of City Hall, and was joined by leaders of a few unions including the New York’s United Court Officers Association. The leaders said they were not making an endorsement, but encouraging her to run. According to a media advisory from Snyder, she went to “officially receive the support” of the unions.
