The 24th St. vehicle access to Hudson River Park and the Chelsea Piers Sports and Entertainment complex is scheduled to close Feb. 21 to be replaced by the existing 22nd St. access road, according to the Hudson River Park Trust.
The change was timed for the beginning of construction on the Chelsea Cove section of Hudson River Park and will not affect bicycle or pedestrian use of the bikeway.
Vehicles will turn onto the 22nd St. access to Chelsea Piers and the park area from the southbound lane of Route 9A. Two temporary variable message signs, one just south of 24th St. and the other at 26th St., will inform drivers on Rte. 9A about the change.
Rte. 9A and the bus drop-off area were planned for the change, which will be permanent.
