A possible anthrax scare on Sept. 11 drew members of the fire department’s Paramedic and Haz-Mat crews to 55 Water St. in the Financial District in the afternoon after a worker in the building allegedly opened an envelope containing a suspicious powder. About eight people were treated at the scene, although the letter was believed to be a hoax, according to the New York Post. The item was discovered in the mailroom of the bond rating firm Standard and Poor’s.
