On Wed., July 5, at 3 p.m., a 12-year-old girl, reportedly visiting from out of state, darted across Avenue A on E. Fifth St., crossing from west to east, on a yellow light, and was struck by a black sedan driving northbound up the avenue that sent her flying into the air. The driver stopped and the girl lay on the street until E.M.S. arrived. Thinking she might be O.K., she tried to get up, but the technicians told her not to. She was strapped to a backboard and rushed to Beth Israel Hospital where she was checked for internal injuries.
