Rosie the Riveter, Mona Lisa and more women disappear from magazine, book covers and ads

Notice something missing from that Dove billboard in Times Square this Sunday or the cover of the latest issue of Allure magazine? The women that usually grace ads displayed throughout New York City, and the covers of many popular magazines have disappeared. It’s the work of the Clinton Foundation, which is using March 8, International Women’s Day, to bring attention to issues of gender equality. From Rosie the Riveter and Mona Lisa to Kendall Jenner and Dakota Johnson, here’s a look at some of the female faces who vanished from the media landscape.
