Seven protesters were arrested outside of Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson’s Clinton Hill home early Wednesday, police said.
The group, ranging in age from 22 to 32 years old, was demonstrating following the sentencing of former NYPD Officer Peter Liang, who was sentenced to 800 hours of community service and five years probation instead of jail time. Thompson had recommended that Liang not go to jail after he was convicted of the 2014 stairwell shooting of Akai Gurley.
The protesters were all charged with inciting to riot, unlawful assembly and disorderly conduct, police said. One protester was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and assault, injuring a police officer.
One officer sustained a deep laceration to his finger during the exchange, police said.
