on Saturday in honor of three court officers who were killed on Sept. 11, 2001 after they rushed to the burning Twin Towers. On the corners of Leonard, Franklin and White Sts., new street signs were unveiled, honoring the memories of Capt. William Thompson, Officer Thomas Jurgens and Officer Mitchel Wallace. A fourth sign, “Court Officer Memorial Way” was also unveiled at Franklin St. Hundreds of court officers formed perfectly-aligned rows, standing at attention as Judith Kaye, Chief Judge of the State of New York, Chief Administrative Judge Jonathan Lippman and other judicial and law enforcement representatives spoke of the heroism of the three fallen officers. “Our promise is that always, always we will remember Harry and Tommy and Mitch,” Kaye told the crowd of family members, friends and colleagues.
