New York City sees the 15th highest rent increase over the last ten years: report

A new report sought to find out which cities throughout the country had the highest rent increases over the last decade.

According to a new report from PropertyClub, while New York City did not see the highest overall in the nation (Aurora, Colorado saw the highest rent jump with a 73%increase over ten years) the city had the 15th highest jump in rent over the last ten years.

In 2010, the median rent price in New York City was $1,681. The price jumped to $2,277 in 2019, marking a 35% increase or a $596 difference over those ten years.

Compared to other cities in the northeast part of the United States, New York City saw the second highest increase, following behind Boston, which saw median rent prices jump from $,1709 in 2010 to $2,341 in 2019 (a 37% increase).
