Talk about burying the lede.

Derek Jeter confirmed his engagement to supermodel Hannah Davis on Tuesday in a Players' Tribune post almost entirely about his dog.

Jeter, who retired from the Yankees after the 2014 season and is the site's founding publisher, said he had never owned a dog in his life. But when he described how he got the dog -- a Mastiff named Kane -- he casually worked in the fact that he is engaged to Davis.

"I had no idea what I was in for as a new dog owner," Jeter wrote. "He was a Christmas gift last year from my fiancée, whose family had Mastiffs growing up. I've never owned a pet in my life."

Jeter has long been private about his personal life, but rumors had swirled about Jeter and Davis' engagement in the past week.
