Three students at a New York City school took home a cash prize after their documentary on criminal justice reform won honorable mention at a C-SPAN student film competition Wednesday.

Dov Alperin, Laura Hickson and Piper Gregoire, 10th-grade students at NYC iSchool, won $250 for their documentary “With Liberty and Justice For Some” in C-SPAN’s  2020 StudentCam competition.

The competition challenged students from 6th-12th grade to create five to six minute on this year’s theme “What’s Your Vision in 2020?”

The three students’ film was selected from more than 2,500 film submissions from more than 5,400 students, according to a Wednesday press release.

C-SPAN provided $100,000 of prize money to divide among one grand prize winner, four first prizes, 16 second prizes, 32 third prizes and 97 honorable mentions. This year was the 16th year of the competition.
