Justin Bieber responds to 5 Seconds of Summer’s comments: I ‘don’t hate you’

Pop star Justin Bieber and 5 Seconds of Summer guitarist Michael Clifford exchanged Twitter barbs over the weekend, with Bieber responding to personal comments Clifford made in an interview.

The contretemps began with a cover story interview of the Australian band posted Saturday by Rolling Stone, in which Clifford, 20, described parties he and lead vocalist Luke Hemmings, 19, attended after their band performed at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles on Nov. 22. He said they crashed an event Bieber, 21, was holding at the West Hollywood lounge The Nice Guy, a favorite hangout of 5SOS. The band members and Bieber did not speak, with Clifford telling the magazine, “I think he hates us.” He added, “I probably shouldn’t say this, but he had his own album on loop for, like, two or three hours.”

Bieber responded late Saturday with a tweet that was quickly deleted but captured by numerous websites including GossipCop.com. “Sorry guy,” it read. “Don’t hate you. Don’t even know u. And are u sure u came to our party because my album wasn’t on loop? Strange.”

In a subsequent deleted tweet, the Canadian pop star wrote, “Wish u the best. Don’t use my name for headlines. U are already on the cover. U don’t need it. Just be honest. Big hugs buds.” In two more posts, Bieber wrote, “Sometimes I wonder . . . What the hell did I have to do with that?? Lol. And now can we call move on. No hate all love. Happy to make it clear. Happy times.”

In his own soon-deleted tweet posted early Sunday morning, Clifford wrote, “Done nothing but praise ur album; no idea why that’s even in the article. Big fan from the start man, take care.”
