Pamela Anderson covers Playboy’s last nude issue

Pamela Anderson has been chosen for the final nude pictorial in Playboy, ending a magazine tradition stretching to the 1950s that helped usher in the sexual revolution. The magazine announced in October it would undergo a nudity-free redesign.

“It’s official. Pamela Anderson is back for her 15th Playboy pictorial” in the January/February 2016 issue, Playboy tweeted Thursday, adding in a news release that this will be her 14th cover. Actress-model Anderson, 48, subsequently posted an Instagram image of the cover, in which she smiles devilishly at the camera.

The 12-page pictorial was photographed by Ellen von Unwerth at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles, and is accompanied by an interview with Anderson conducted by actor-filmmaker James Franco. The issue appears on newsstands Dec. 11.

Anderson — the February 1990 Playmate of the Month — told “Entertainment Tonight” on Thursday, “I got a call from [publisher Hugh Hefner’s] attorney who said, ‘We don’t want anybody else. There’s nobody else, could you do the last cover of Playboy [before its redesign]?’ . . . I was like, ‘What? Are you serious?’ But then I thought that’s probably a good thing,” Anderson reasoned. “It’s hard to compete with the Internet. And the girl next door doesn’t exist anymore. She’s taking selfies down her shirt, like, you know, there’s no mystery over there anymore. It doesn’t have that same charm and innocence that it used to.”

Concerned over the teasing that her two children had endured over her nude pictorials while growing up, Anderson told “ET” she sought permission from her elder child, 19-year-old Brandon Lee, to do this final shoot.

“I said, ‘Hef just called, he wants me to do the last cover of Playboy,’ and he goes, ‘Mom you’ve got to do it,’ ” she said, adding that when she informed him of the nudity, he told her, “ ‘We’re older, we’re not embarrassed anymore of you. You know, we think you’re great.’ . . . And then I asked [17-year-old son Dylan [Lee], too, and Dylan’s like, ‘Mom, you know you’ve done it all.’ I don’t know what to say but they were really excited for me, and I was excited too.”
