SummerStage 2016 lineup: Indigo Girls, Public Enemy, Neon Indian, more

The City Parks Foundation has announced its massive 2016 SummerStage lineup and it does not disappoint.

This year, SummerStage will run from May 16 through Sept. 23 and promises more than 100 free music, dance and comedy events across 16 parks in New York City.

With so many events to choose from, we’ve narrowed it down to some of the highlights.

Here are some of the best free concerts and events you can check out in New York City this summer.

June:
June 4: The Legends Honor McCoy: McCoy Tyner / Ron Carter / Roy Haynes will be bringing blues-based piano to kick off this season’s free concerts at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park.

June 21: Public Enemy / DJ Tedsmooth at Betsy Head Park in Brooklyn.

June 22: The Metropolitan Opera Summer Recital Series at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park. You can also catch this event at Brooklyn Bridge Park on June 24.

June 26: Only in Queens: Ginuwine / Mack Wilds / Kid ‘n Play will perform at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens.

June 26: Comedy Central presents: The Daily Show with Trevor Noah Stand-Up in the Park will offer a night of free, live comedy at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park.

June 27: Indigo Girls will feature their new album “One Lost Day” at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park.

July:
July 2: Everyday People at Herbert Von King Park in Brooklyn.

July 6: Fat Joe / Tony Touch will perform at Crotona Park in the Bronx.

July 7: The Metropolitan Opera Summer Recital Series makes its way to Clove Lakes Park on Staten Island. You can also catch them at Jackie Robinson Park in Manhattan on July 9, at Socrates Sculpture Park in Queens on July 11 and at Crotona Park in the Bronx on July 13.

July 27: Complexions Contemporary Ballet / Carolyn Dorfman at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park.

July 30: Unknown Mortal Orchestra / Empress Of performs at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park.

July 31: Rock Steady Crew 39th Anniversary with Nice & Smooth / Bahamadia and more at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park.

August:
Aug. 9: Neon Indian performs at East River Park in Manhattan.

Aug. 14: DJ Spinna celebrates Earth, Wind, and Fire / Shine and the Moonbeams at East River Park in Manhattan.

Aug. 21: Sweet Micky / MHD / Erick La Peau performs at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park.

Aug. 28: GoldLink / Backyard Band / DJ Spicoli perform at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park.

Aug. 31: Chicago The Musical: 20th Anniversary Concert will feature hit songs at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park.
