Protesters fuming over continued ICE detentions in immigration court wound up in cuffs for the third straight day on Wednesday night.
Demonstrators returned to Foley Square on June 11, just across the street from where federal agents have been detaining immigrants as they attend court hearings — but the crowd size dwindled in comparison to Tuesday evening.
Still, that did not stop several clashes from unfolding. After several hours of chanting denouncing the presence of ICE in the Big Apple, the group circled 26 Federal Plaza, during which a struggle between cops and demonstrators broke out after they refused to clear the roadway, where ICE vans are used to enter and exit the facility.
According to police sources, two people were arrested and five people were issued summonses.
This came one day after 86 people were cuffed in the same area for violent clashes with cops that saw objects being hurled and officers wrestling with enraged New Yorkers.
Meanwhile, in other parts of the country, the unrest continued as hordes of National Guard troops and 700 Marines were deployed to the Los Angeles area, where chaos continues.
Police sources in the NYPD say they are bracing for more protests into the weekend, including No Kings Day actions on June 14 — coinciding with Trump’s military parade in Washington, DC.
