Kimpton Hotel Eventi pet relations director Bailey is the hardest working dog in midtown

• Kimpton Hotel Eventi is part of the Kimpton hotel chain, which prides itself on its pet friendliness. Bailey is one of several directors of pet relations in Kimpton’s hotels.

  Mehalco said the Hotel Eventi, on Sixth Avenue, hosts dogs daily, and on weekends that number grows. On Friday, he said there were seven dogs staying at the hotel.

• Customers aren’t charged additional fees for pets, and they aren’t limited to number of pets they can bring. There also aren’t any size or weight restrictions.

• A typical day for Baily begins at 8 and can go all the way until the wine parties in the evening.

• 8 a.m.: Bailey usually starts her day by greeting the housekeeping staff, Mehalco said. It’s a ruff morning for this dog.

• 9 a.m.: Bailey then attends an executive meeting. She has to make sure she’s on top of her pet responsibilities.

• 10 a.m. to noon: Bailey heads down to the front desk where she greets guests and makes sure that dogs checking in get a welcome treat.

• 5 to 6 p.m.: Bailey’s hosting duties continue well into the night with the hotel’s daily wine hour, where pets are welcome to mingle with their human companions each night.

Bailey, a 5-year-old English bulldog, sprawled out on the lobby floor of the Kimpton Hotel Eventi in midtown on Friday, seemingly tired from her very hard job as one of the hotel’s directors of pet relations.

The adorable pup, whose human dad happens to be Bill Mehalco, the hotel’s assistant general manager, comes in a couple times a week to greet guests and make sure all the amenities are up to snuff.

“It’s just funny,” Mehalco said. “I think it lifts the spirits of anybody coming into the hotel.”
