Police are searching for the gunman who fatally shot a man in the head inside a Bronx playground Friday afternoon, authorities said.
Officers from the 42nd Precinct responded to reports of shots fired near the playground at East 173rd Street, directly across from an elementary school in Crotona Park, just before 1 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the head. EMS responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. He has not yet been identified, police said.
Police said they are reviewing nearby security camera footage to identify a suspect. The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
The NYPD has yet to confirm reports that officers are searching for two masked suspects who were last seen fleeing toward Indian Lake, according to the Citizen app. The suspects were reportedly dressed in all black.
The May 30 incident marks the second homicide and ninth shooting reported this year in the 42nd Precinct, according to the latest NYPD data.
