Detectives in Brooklyn are searching for the suspect who fatally shot a man in the back early Friday morning, police said.
According to the NYPD, the shooting occurred at about 1:52 a.m. June 6 at the intersection of Rockaway Parkway and Avenue N, in a residential area of Canarsie.
Officers from the 69th Precinct responded to a 911 call about a person shot and found a 42-year-old man with a single gunshot wound to his back. He was conscious and alert, authorities said.
Emergency medical services took the victim to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police have not released the man’s identity, pending family notification. It was not immediately clear whether he lived nearby.
No information was available about a possible motive or suspect. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing, cops said.
The June 6 shooting is the first homicide in the 69th Precinct so far this year, and the fifth shooting incident, according to NYPD data.
