Manhattan detectives are looking for the killer who shot a 23-year-old man to death on Christmas Eve.

Police said the homicide happened at about 5:47 p.m. on Dec. 24 at the Manhattanville Houses public houses complex located at 1430 Amsterdam Ave.

Officers from the 26th Precinct, in responding to a 911 call regarding a shot fired, found the victim inside the building with a bullet wound to his torso.

EMS rushed the victim to Mount Sinai Morningside St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police have withheld his identity, pending family notification.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown and under investigation, NYPD sources said Monday morning. So far, no arrests have been made, and police have not yet disclosed a suspect’s description.

It was the first homicide in the 26th Precinct this year, according to the most recent CompStat report; no homicides had been reported year-to-date through Dec. 17. Just 1 murder occurred in the precinct in 2022.

Moreover, only 7 shootings have been tallied in the command in 2023, equal to the number recorded last year.
