A Queens jewelry store owner is recovering after being shot during an armed robbery on Tuesday evening, police said.
Police say three armed men wearing all black entered the jewelry store at 35-35 Junction Boulevard in Corona at about 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 12, intent on robbing it. As they pilfered jewelry from the establishment, one of the perps fired their weapon at the 59-year-old owner, striking him in the head and thigh.
The robbers fled the scene northbound on Junction Boulevard and have not been caught.
After responding to a 911 call, police discovered the wounded owner, and took him to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
The 115th Precinct, where the robbery occurred, has seen 338 robberies so far this year, about 14% more than at the same time in 2022.
