Dave Poster, head of the anticrime Christopher St. Patrol since it was founded in 1990, received a special award on June 30 from the Sixth Police Precinct Community Council “for lifelong involvement in neighborhood activism and dedicated commitment to improving the quality of life the community.” Community Board 2, whose district includes Soho and Noho, as well as the Village, also sponsored the award.
Poster, a Village resident since 1978, has taken part in the Guardian Angels’ anticrime efforts and headed the Greenwich Village Block Associations’ quality-of-life task force.
The Christopher St. Patrol is a volunteer anticrime watch that covers the districts of the Christopher St. Block and Merchants Association, West Village Houses, W. 10th St. Block Association, Grove St. Block Association and the Bedford Barrow Commerce Sts. Block Association.
