Corners renamed for hero officers

Included in a bill recently signed by Mayor Bloomberg renaming 84 streets, two Village street corners were renamed for the Sixth Precinct auxiliary police officers who gave their lives in the line of duty on the night of March 14, 2007. The patrol partners were fatally wounded while trying to help apprehend a crazed gunman who had just shot a pizza restaurant worker on Houston St. The bill authorized renaming the northeast corner of Bleecker and Sullivan Sts. “Aux. P.O. Nicholas Pekearo Corner,” and the southwest corner of Bleecker and Sullivan Sts. “Aux. P.O. Eugene Marshalik Corner.”
