Millennium High School on the corner of Broad and S. William Sts. is hosting a pet adoption event for the Animal Care & Control of New York City on Friday, Feb. 9 from 1 to 6 p.m.
There will be 15 to 20 cats and dogs available for on-site adoption that day. Interested pet-parents should bring proof of residency and money for adoption fees. The Animal Care group is offering a reduced rate throughout February, with costs ranging from $25 for older cats to $155 for purebred dogs.
There will also be pet treats and used books for sale at the event. Millennium is currently organizing a drive to collect books for the occasion. All funds raised will help support the Animal Care in their goal to find permanent homes for New York City animals.
The Animal Care is a not-for-profit humane organization with facilities in all five boroughs. They report taking in over 44,000 animals a year across the city, but have to put 30 to 50 animals to sleep each day due to a lack of adequate space.
