As a part of New York Comedy Festival, comedian Paul Costabile returns to New York City on Nov. 13 with Early Late Nite, an evening of live comedy, interviews and performances.

Early Late Nite stemmed from Costabile’s show “Paulie’s Dinner,” which was a part of the New York Comedy Festival for the past couple of years. Like its predecessor, Early Late Nite aims to bring a new take on the old-school variety show.

“We’ve been doing this monthly in LA all year, so it’s become a new, upgraded version of ‘Paulie’s Dinner,’” said Costabile. “Basically, the main difference is that we have stand-up, we have characters come out, and then I’m also adding interviews to the format. I’ve been an interviewer as long as anything. This is kind of my love letter to late-night television, late-night interviews and how they used to be.”

Costabile will host the event alongside musical sidekick Sal “The Voice” Valentinetti and his band. The show will feature performances from Mark Normand, Paul Virzi, Tara Cannistraci, Manon Mathews, Nicky Smigs, Tommy Mitchell, Jakey Botch, Emily Wilson, and The Conductor, as well as the many voices of Joe Gaudet.

The show will also feature surprise guests and interviews throughout the night.

“I have the best stand-up comedians around. Truly, this is probably the best deal we’ve ever had in New York. I have some voice people coming and doing impressions that have surprises,” said Costabile. “We’re creating this late-night comedy show but it feels like theater. My hope for this is that people are coming back to that old school raw entertainment thing that you can only get in the moment.”

Costabile says that those who come to Early Late Nite are in for a good time that won’t get overly political.

“We’re making it an active choice to not be super political. It’s the difference between late-night then and late-night now, old late-night would joke about everything while new late-night just jokes about one side,” said Costabile. “This is kind of an evergreen late-night show where everybody wins, we try to make fun of everybody.”

Tickets for Early Late Nite with Paul Costabile + Friends are available at nycomedyfestival.com starting at $44.33. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. All shows at The Cutting Room have a $25 food and/or beverage minimum per person.
