Ladybug Day Pre-schoolers, kindergarteners and first graders from area schools will celebrate Ladybug Day in Washington Market Park. Any child not enrolled in a participating school may come to the park and join the celebration. Children will receive ladybugs, a magnifying glass and chalk to draw pictures on the sidewalks. Masked MadnessManhattan Youth Players, Lower Manhattan’s teen theater troupe, will perform four original one-act plays in the Italian Renaissance style of Commedia dell’arte. Thirty-one students from I.S. 89 comprise the casts of the four plays, entitled Italian Idol, Fast Asleep, The Politics of love, and Math & Litteracie. Thurs. & Fri., June 7 & 8 at 7pm. PinkaliciousThe Musical Pinkalicious can’t stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents. This eventually lands her in the doctor’s office with a case of Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe. In the end, only Pinkalicious can get herself out of this predicament. Summer Art ColonyChildren ages 6-12 work with professional artists and learn how to truly create. One and two week classes available in a variety of themes, including Ceramics, Animation, Comics, Pinhole Photography, Claymation, Puppetry, Drawing, Textiles and more.
