Koch needs open mind and heart

To The Editor:
My stomach also turned reading Ed Koch’s response to movie director Claude Miller’s change of mind regarding President Sarkozy’s plan that every French child be given the name and history of a Jewish child who died in the Shoah because other genocides continue to occur (movie review, March 7-13). Why should his stomach turn?! Did Mr. Miller say the Holocaust should be ignored, forgotten and not taught? Or was he making the point that we must also give voice and educate our children about other genocides? The director’s remark did not diminish the magnitude of The Final Solution. Rather than getting a sick stomach, Mr. Koch, try expanding it by opening up your mind and heart, and support education that includes the horrors of genocides everywhere.
