NYPD officers struck by hit-and-run driver during Brooklyn traffic stop

Police are on the hunt for a reckless driver who injured two Brooklyn police officers during a traffic stop on Tuesday morning.

According to police sources, the incident unfolded at around 4:39 a.m. on Dec. 16 near West 8th Street and Quentin Road in Gravesend, where officers from the 62nd Precinct pulled over a vehicle they spotted speeding through a red light.

After getting the driver of the gray Mercedes to stop, the officers left their marked police cruiser and approached the car. When they did so, police reported, the Mercedes driver suddenly moved the vehicle in reverse, hitting both cops.

The suspect then sped away in the Mercedes, heading westbound on Quentin Road.

EMS rushed both officers to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries to their legs. They were listed in stable condition.

So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation. Police sources described the driver as a man last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt.
