Beneath the halls filled with learning children, local artists, designers and boutiques will showcase their products.
In its first boutique market, the P.T.A of P.S. 234 will open its doors to community artists. On Sat., Dec. 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., an estimated 40 vendors will line the cafeteria of 292 Greenwich St., inviting residents to buy their goods.
“A ‘Taste’ of Local Talent” will raise money for the music program at P.S. 234. The $250 sign-up fee for a vendor’s booth is expected to cover some costs in the music program, the school’s biggest expense.
The event is inspired by the Taste of Tribeca, founded in 1994 by the parents of children in P.S. 150 and P.S. 234. Similar to the culinary street fair, artists will get a chance to follow in the footsteps of local chefs in this boutique market event.
The vendors, from fashion and jewelry designers to artisans and local retailers, do not have to be P.S. 234 parents in order to participate.
Though 40 vendors have signed up to introduce their creations, many more are expected to attend. Local artists are encouraged to sign up for a table by Mon., Nov. 19. For more information, contact P.S. 234 P.T.A. president Liat Silberman at liat@ps234.org or (212) 219-2056.
