An open house and ribbon cutting celebrating the completion of the New York Junior League’s renovation of the Tony Dapolito Recreation Center and James J. Walker Park, at 3 Clarkson St. between Seventh Ave. South and Hudson St., will take place between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Sat., June 21.
Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe and Junior League Acting President Mari Dubois, along with Frances Dapolito, will open the event, which will feature bocce lessons, games, face painting, refreshments and an Italian musical troupe.
The renovation and funding of roof repairs on the recreation center was managed by the Junior League and involved more than 12,500 volunteer hours over the past two months. The event will include the planting of a tree in the park as part of the Million Trees NYC project.
