Shooting at Bushwick Playground kills 1, injures 2, NYPD says

An 18-year-old man was charged on Monday in a shooting at a Brooklyn playground that killed a man and injured two others last week.

Damien Grimes Fuller is accused of fatally shooting Hamler Cabrera-De Jesus, 21, in the back inside Bushwick Playground, near the corner of Knickerbocker Avenue and Madison Street. Cabrera-De Jesus, of Queens, was pronounced dead at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, according to the NYPD.

The shooting, which happened around 6:35 p.m., also injured two 20-year-old men, police said. One man was shot in the back and left elbow and the other man was grazed by a bullet on his left arm. Both were taken to The Brookdale Hospital and Medical Center in stable condition, according to police. 

No children were injured in the shooting, police said.

Fuller, of Brooklyn, was charged with murder, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment, according to the NYPD.
