SoHo businesses can clean up themselves

To the editor:
Re: B.I.D. group charges many opponents aren’t in the district (news article by Aline Reynolds, Aug. 17)

As a 36-year resident of our co-op, created in 1969, I strongly object to the spin on the steering committee’s postulations. They don’t live here — we do. They certainly will try to expand the unnecessary development of Soho.

Do we look underdeveloped? We are paying extremely high property taxes because we helped upgrade this neighborhood. If it is about cleaning Broadway, let the businesses clean up after themselves, we as residential buildings have to. It is another greedy takeover attempt by commercial developers trying to push out whoever is left of the old guard.
