Dates: Thursday, January 21 – Wednesday, January 27

ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING RULES ARE SUSPENDED SAT., JAN. 23 FOR SNOW REMOVAL

Presidential politics will cause traffic jams in lower Manhattan on Saturday.  Downtown will “Feel the Bern” of traffic this weekend with a March for Bernie Sanders 3 p.m. Saturday. Closures will be at the NYPD’s discretion. The route will go southbound on Broadway between 14th St. and Ann. St., Ann St. between Broadway and Nassau St., Ceder St. between Nassau St. and Broadway, finally dispersing inside Zucotti Park. Bernie’s crowds have been big, so be prepared.

Several tunnel and lane closures this week and weekend might slow you down:

In the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, one tube will close Monday through Friday nights 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. During the closure, two lanes of traffic will remain in the open tube. Expect slowdowns.

The Hudson River crossings will be sluggish Thursday night. In the Lincoln Tunnel, the New York-bound tube will close 11 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday. This will force more drivers down to the Holland tunnel, where one New York-bound and one New Jersey-bound lane will close 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday nights. The slowdowns will go back into New Jersey, and hit drivers as they exit the tunnel near Canal St.

In the Battery Park Underpass from Route 9A/West St. to FDR Drive one of two lanes in either tube will close Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. to midnight. One tube, either the south or the north, will be fully closed Monday to Friday midnight to 5 a.m. and Saturday and/or Sunday 1 a.m. to 8 a.m.

Slow-going on Route 9A/West St. between Battery Pl. and 59th St. One lane will close weekdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. weeknights. One lane will also close Saturday 1 a.m. to 10 a.m., and Sunday 2 a.m. to noon. Two lanes will close weekdays midnight to 5 a.m., Saturday 2 a.m. to 8 a.m., and Sunday 3 a.m. to 10 a.m.
