ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING IS IN EFFECT ALL WEEK

A slow weekend in the Holland Tunnel: The Giants look to continue their win streak against the Packers 4:30 p.m. Sunday at MetLife Stadium. That means fan traffic to the game will hit Lower Manhattan as drivers avoid the Lincoln Tunnel and head south for the Holland. No return traffic though, since all New York-bound lanes of the Holland Tunnel will close midnight Saturday to 6 a.m. Monday. Lower Manhattanites heading home: take the Lincoln Tunnel instead.

PATH Alert! A weekend-long service suspension is coming up for PATH trains between the World Trade Center and Exchange Place. The last departure from WTC to Newark is 11:55 p.m. Friday, and to Hoboken 10:56 p.m. Friday. The last departure from Newark to WTC is 11:20 p.m. Friday and from Hoboken 11:11 p.m. Friday. Service will resume Monday morning at 4:30 a.m. This service suspension will repeat next weekend.

One tube of the Hugh L. Carey (Brooklyn Battery) Tunnel will close 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday. The remaining tube will carry one lane of traffic in each direction. Expect slowdowns on West St. and on the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. This closure will repeat for again next weekend.

On West St./Route 9A, one lane will close in both directions between West Thames and Vesey Sts. 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday nights and 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights. Wednesday and Thursday nights, two northbound lanes will close between Liberty and Barclay Sts. 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and two southbound lanes will close between Barclay and Liberty Sts. midnight to 5 a.m.

From the mailbag:

Dear Transit Sam,

There is an error on the summons I received today for the above referenced infraction. Do I have recourse (dismissal or reduction in fine amount) in this matter? The error is an incorrect letter in my license plate number indicated as the “PLATE #” on the summons.

Rosario, New York

Dear Rosario,

You do have recourse: at your hearing, state the error to the judge. You can also mail in your plea with a defense letter and copy of your registration. The incorrect plate number should get you off the hook. Write back if the judge doesn’t dismiss the ticket.
