Manhattan stabbing suspect still at large for attacking man on street

Detectives in Manhattan are still looking for the suspect who stabbed a man in the back on Saturday night.

Police said the assault occurred in the East Village at about 6:40 p.m. on March 9 near the corner of East 5th Street and Avenue A.

Officers from the 9th Precinct, in responding to a 911 call about an assault in progress, found a 58-year-old man with a knife wound to his back.

EMS rushed him to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

As of Sunday morning, police were still working to piece together the circumstances leading up to the stabbing. Sources familiar with the case said the victim had not been cooperative with detectives.

So far, no arrests have been made in the case. Police have yet to provide a description of the attacker.
