Police are looking for three people who allegedly beat a scooter rider over a parking spot in Downtown Brooklyn on Tuesday, according to police sources.
On Friday, the NYPD released images of the alleged suspects behind the brutal assault, which occurred at about 4:47 p.m. on June 4 in front of a nail salon at 142 Lawrence Street.
Law enforcement sources said the three men approached a 40-year-old man as he sat on his motorized scooter and argued with him over the parking spot he was occupying in front of the location.
One of the men then punched the victim in the face, knocking him off his scooter, before all three suspects began punching and kicking him about the body, cops said.
The men then fled the location on foot in different directions, leaving the victim with a “serious physical injury” to his right ear. EMS took the 40-year-old to The Brooklyn Hospital Center in critical but stable condition, according to police.
The suspects are described by police as males with dark complexions. The first was last seen wearing a white sweatshirt and fled westbound on Lawrence St. The second wore a beige sweatsuit and also fled westbound. The third wore all black and fled eastbound on Lawrence St.
The 84th Precinct has seen a slight increase in felony assaults year-to-date; according to the most recent NYPD data, through June 1, the command tallied 153 assaults, 22 more than the number reported at the same point last year.
