It’s not uncommon for NFL rivals to not get along; however, the Browns and Steelers tend to take things to another level — as would be expected from the AFC’s oldest rivalry. While Pittsburgh fans have turned their attention to the Baltimore Ravens in recent years, the Browns still hate the Black and Gold with a fiery passion and will bring that intensity this Sunday.
They will, however, have to do so without edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney who was sent home after his critical comments against the Browns organization earlier this week. The team may also be without offensive tackle Jack Conklin and star cornerback Denzel Ward who both missed practice this week with various injuries
Cleveland is already eliminated from playoff contention, but they can still play spoiler for the Steelers, who are holding on by the slimmest of chances.
While Cleveland’s season will be over after Sunday, the Steelers are looking to sneak into the playoffs. To do so, they would need both the Patriots and Dolphins to lose (the teams face the Bills and Jets, respectively) along with a victory over the Browns.
As far as the Steelers’ injury woes, OLB Alex Highsmith was added to the injury report in the middle of the week with an ankle injury.
While Pittsburgh can’t control their entire playoff destiny, they can control this game. Rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett now has two game-winning drives and has proved every bit as resilient as his teammates.
Neither team will give an inch this Sunday, and the game will likely come down to the wire.
Prediction: Browns 13 | Steelers 16
