Sports College Football: where to watch this year's best teams By ALISON FOX Updated September 2, 2015 7:10 AM Print Share fbShare Tweet Email The summer is coming to an end and that means changing colors, pumpkin spice lattes, pie, and... College. Football. Is. Back. Far from where your team is kicking off? Need a good bar to watch the game? Here is a list of bars for the pre-season top 10 teams (and Wisconsin, I'm biased) where you can grab a drink and cheer on your team with like-minded fans. Ohio State: Iron Bar New York Photo Credit: Facebook/ Iron Bar The defending national champs, the Buckeyes are ranked No. 1 to start the season. Cheer them on at the Iron Bar when they play @Virginia Tech on Monday at 8 p.m. Iron Bar NYC; 713 8th Ave. TCU: The 13th Step Photo Credit: Facebook/ The 13th Step TCU's horned frogs open their season @Minnesota on Thursday at 9 p.m. Join your fellow Texans (or amphibian lovers) at The 13th Step. The 13th Step; 149 2nd Ave. Alabama: The Ainsworth Photo Credit: Facebook/ The Ainsworth Alabama will head to AT&T Stadium, where the Dallas Cowboys play, to take on Wisconsin on Saturday night at 8 p.m. If you feel the pull of the roll tide, head to The Ainsworth for some camaraderie. Van Diemens, 383 3rd Ave. Michigan State: Mercury Bar or Blondie's Photo Credit: Facebook/ Mercury Bar Michigan State heads to Kalamazoo for their first game against Western Michigan on Friday at 7 p.m. Spartan fans (and others who like green) head to Mercury Bar (pictured above) or Blondie's. Mercury Bar, 493 3rd Ave.; or Blondie's (which is also home to several other teams, including this reporter's other alma mater, Northwestern!), 212 W. 79th St. Auburn: Playwright Celtic Pub Photo Credit: Facebook/ Playwright Celtic Pub Auburn will kick off their season by stepping into the Georgia Dome, where the Atlanta Falcons usually play, to take on the Louisville Cardinals on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. If you need a place a bit closer to home to watch, head to their alumni bar for the day: the Playwright Celtic Pub. The team will be heading back to the regular bar, St. Pat's Bar & Grill, for future games. Playwright Celtic Pub; 732 8th Ave. Oregon: Village Pourhouse Photo Credit: Facebook/ Village Pourhouse The Ducks lost last year's National Championship Game to Ohio State, but it's a whole new year. They will kick off their season on Saturday at 8 p.m. by welcoming Eastern Washington to Eugene. Head to the Village Pourhouse to root from NYC. Village Pourhouse; 64 3rd Ave. USC: Pennsylvania 6 Photo Credit: Facebook/ Pennsylvania 6 The Trojans have a late game on deck vs. Arkansas State but if you can stay awake long enough to watch them kick off at 11 p.m. on Saturday, then put on your cardinal and gold and head to Pennsylvania 6 for some classy cocktails. Pennsylvania 6; 132 W. 31st St. Georgia: American Whiskey Photo Credit: Facebook/ American Whiskey Georgia's season starts with a home show against Louisiana Monroe on Saturday at 12 p.m. But if you can't make it all the way to Athens, cheer on the Bulldogs at American Whiskey in Midtown.
