The Nets are taking the famed words of hip-hop legend and Brooklyn native, Notorious B.I.G., and running with them this season.

As the Nets celebrate 10 years in Brooklyn, the organization plans to use the famed phrase as a basis for the anniversary season. The Nets relocated to Barclays Center in 2012 after spending 35 years in New Jersey.

Now 10 years into the change, the organization is planning a number of initiatives to celebrate the decade they’ve spent in Kings County. As part of that, the team will feature special programming that “infuse the five cultural pillars that define the borough – Basketball, Music, Fashion, Food and The Arts.”

“Brooklyn has a distinct identity, comprised of diverse, driven, and passionate people that embody the spirit of The Brooklyn Way,” Andrew Karson, Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing, Strategy & Solutions, BSE Global, said in a press release. “The Brooklyn Way will come to life through our celebration of 10 Years in Brooklyn, which is for, and inspired by, Nets fans and the borough. To commemorate this milestone, we will show appreciation to our community for their support over the past decade, spotlight the best of Brooklyn basketball and culture, and establish traditions for the future.”

The team released a short film titled 10 Years in Brooklyn on Monday, which describes the unique characteristics of the borough through the eyes of 10-year-old Nets fans.

The Nets will host a number of 10 years in Brooklyn games that will feature special giveaways. The first will take place on Nov. 1 when the Bulls visit Barclays Center. Other programming will highlight local artists, musicians, comedians and others and give them the chance to perform at a Nets game.

A special mosaic of fan-submitted photos from the first 10 years of Barclays’ existence will also be on display inside the arena. And commemorative merchandise will be sold online and at the team store inside the arena beginning Oct. 19.
